The Great Compromise
The Great Compromise was a compromise in 1787, that was attained during the drafting of the
United States Constitution. The delegates were trying to find a way each state could be represented in Congress. There were two plans, the Virginia Plan and the New Jersey Plan. In the New Jersey plan, the smaller populated states wanted the same number of representatives as the more populated states to represent Congress. They then created a system where the population of a state didn't determine the number of representatives a state had. Each state had the same number of representatives to represent Congress. However, in the Virginia Plan, the more populated states felt that they should have more representatives than the less populated states. The Framers of the Constitution decided to put the two plans together to create a compromise, known as the, Great Compromise. In the Great Compromise the Senate had only two representatives no matter what the population was and in the House of Representatives, the number of representatives of each state was based on the population of that state

 Three-Fifths Compromise
Now that population had some what to do with representation, the framers had to decide on how to

count slaves. States that held slaves wanted to count each slave as a full person, but states that did not hold slaves felt that they should not count slaves as full people. In order to meet an agreement for both sides, the Framers decided to count each slave as three-fifths of a person, calling it the Three-Fifths Compromise.

Texting about the Declaration

Thomas- Hey George, the colonies don't want to be under your rule so I've written up the Declaration of Independence if you want to check it out.
Declaration of Independence

George- Excuse me, I don't think I'm understanding what you're saying Tom. Let me see it.

Thomas- I believe as human we all have our own rights man. You know that can't be taken away?

George- Like what??  You don't make any type of sense!! Who do you think you are?

Thomas- Come on! Really all the colonists have their own rights. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness! God created us all equal and we should have a government that should protect our rights man. Don't you agree Georgie boy? We were all talking about it. Here.

Meeting

George-Why do you need these rights? Why should I?

Thomas-Well the colonists are complaining and saying how you never enforce the laws, you're making it difficult for the people to participate in the government, and most of all the colonists are complaining about your taxation without representation. Look what they were doing when you passed the Stamp Act.
Protesting Stamp

George- Last time I checked I was the KING and you weren't.

Thomas- Well let me tell you plain and simple. We want to be separated from you George.
We want to cut ties with you. We've been fighting for our Independence we won battles. We deserve to separate away from you George. We won the battle of Saratoga and Yorktown. We are getting people from each of the colonists to sign for their consent and they all agree. I'm sorry George we want out.
Thomas- Oh I forgot to add George you owe so much money from the war George. You cannot afford to keep fighting. We deserve our independence from you.

George-You know what whatever I'm done dealing with this anymore sign the declaration. I'll set up a treaty. We'll set up the Treaty of Paris.

Thomas- Tomorrow on July 4 we'll sign the Declaration and declare our Independence from you!!! We'll be free! The United States of America will be independent from Britain!!

George- Yeah Yeah.....

  • The French and Indian war was caused by both the French and British because both wanted their colonies to colonize near the Ohio River Valley. George Washington marched his troops to Fort Dusquesne where they encountered the French and began fighting, which let to the war.
  • The result of the French and Indian War was Britain in victory and they took over most of the lands of their New World. The Proclamation of 1763 was issued to keep settlers away from settling west of the Appalachian Mountains. Britain was in great debt and this is when Parliament had to issue the Stamp Act, however the British did not follow and then the Parliament issued the Declaratory Act.
